What did Cinque do in Africa?

Cinque (c. 1814 – February 1879), also known as Joseph Cinqué or Joseph Cinque, was abducted from near what is now called Freetown, Sierra Leone in Africa, by Portuguese slave traders and sold into slavery in Cuba in 1839. As a chief in his native Mandingo ethnic group, Cinque planned and led a revolt involving 53 Mende captives during the Middle Passage on board La Amistad to regain their freedom.
