Sri Lanka: An Island Nation, Not Landlocked

Sri Lanka is an island country in the Indian Ocean, situated off the southeastern tip of the Indian subcontinent. It is separated from mainland India by the Palk Strait (north) and the Gulf of Mannar (northwest). With a coastline of over 1,340 km (830 mi), it has no land borders. The term "landlocked" applies only to countries entirely surrounded by land (e.g., Nepal, Bolivia).
