In addition to these major groups, there are also smaller communities of French, Spanish, and Italian expatriates. These expatriates are mostly employed in the tourism, education, and business sectors.
The Moroccan population is divided into two main ethnic groups: Arabs and Berbers. The Arabs are the descendants of Arab tribes from the Arabian Peninsula who settled in Morocco in the 7th century during the Muslim conquest. The Berbers are the indigenous people of Morocco and have a long history in the region, with some Berber tribes living there since the 3rd millennium BCE. While ethnic tensions between the Arabs and Berbers exist, they are not at the forefront of Moroccan society.
Morocco also hosts a significant population of sub-Saharan African migrants, who come to the country in search of better economic opportunities. These migrants are often employed in the agricultural and construction sectors.
