The Sahara Desert covers North Africa. It is the world’s largest hot desert, covering an area of 9,200,000 sq km (3,600,000 sq mi). The Sahara stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Red Sea in the east and from the Mediterranean Sea in the north to the Sahel savannah in the south.
