Places to Visit in Da Nang, Vietnam

Da Nang hasb always been one of Vietnam's highly important port cities. It's central-coast location makes it a popular stopover between Ha Noi and the country's capital, Ho Chi Mihn City. However, Da Nang is becoming a destination in its own right, and travelers should consider spending a few days in Vietnam's second-largest city and its surrounding areas to round out their Vietnam vacation.
  1. Da Nang Water Park

    • Vietnam is not short on amazing beaches, but if you are looking for water activities a little more thrilling than lounging on a beach or to entertain the whole family, check out the Da Nang Water Park, with a wave pool, massage pool, lazy river, high-speed slides and plenty of fun for the kiddies. If you are worried about safety, don't be. The park adheres to international safety regulations and was built with outsourced equipment.

    Marble Mountains

    • Locals believe the massive limestone and marble cliffs south of Da Nang, known as the Marble Mountains, resemble the chest of a dragon. During the Vietnam War, many caves inside the towering cliffs of Vietnam doubled as sanctuaries for the Vietcong, and the Marble Mountain caves are no different. Other caves serve as Buddhist holy rooms. Marble Mountain is a significant structure to locals so remember to be respectful and a little forgiving if they excitedly nudge past you.

    My Son Sanctuary

    • Built and developed over 10 centuries between 4 A.D. and 13 A.D., the tower temples of the My Son sanctuary hold a religious, spiritual, political and historical significance to not only Vietnam, but to Southeast Asia. The My Son culture, heavily soaked in Hinduism, built the temples from fired brick and stone pillars, and scenes depicting the religion's mythology still can be seen in the sandstone bas reliefs. A ring of mountains surround the collection of temples, making it a truly awe-inspiring and beautiful site.

    Han Market

    • Constructed in the 1940s during the French colonization of Vietnam, Da Nang's Han Market opened as a humble trading post, but because of its convenient location and increased growth, it eventually needed a redesign and underwent a full renovation in 1989. These days, you can stroll through the many stalls and stores at Han Market, shopping for fresh vegetables and fruits, meat and fish, as well as clothes and jewelry. Be sure to grab a bottle of fish sauce -- a Vietnam culinary specialty.
