Why did the explorers continue to look for routes Asia?

The explorers continued to look for new routes to Asia for several reasons:

1. Trade: Asia was a rich source of valuable goods, including spices, silk, textiles, and precious metals. The European explorers were eager to find a direct route to Asia to cut out the middlemen (Muslim merchants) and access these goods more cheaply and efficiently.

2. Missionary work: Many of the explorers were missionaries who wanted to spread Christianity to Asia. They believed that the best way to do this was to establish direct contact with the Asian peoples.

3. Scientific curiosity: The explorers were also motivated by a desire to learn more about the world and its peoples. They wanted to see new places, meet new people, and learn about different cultures.

4. National prestige: In the 15th and 16th centuries, there was a intense rivalry among the European powers. Each country wanted to be the first to find a new route to Asia, as this would bring great glory and prestige to the nation.

Despite the many challenges, the European explorers continued to search for new routes to Asia. Their persistence eventually paid off, and by the end of the 16th century, the Portuguese, Spanish, and Dutch had all established direct trade routes to Asia.
