Why Malaysia Day is not a public holiday in peninsular Malaysia?

This statement is incorrect. Malaysia Day is in fact a public holiday in peninsular Malaysia, as well as in Sabah, Sarawak and the federal territories. It commemorates the formation of the Federation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963.
