What was the Mukden incident that japan used as an excuse to seize Manchuria?

The South Manchuria Railway Incident, also known as the Mukden Incident or the Manchurian Incident, was a staged explosion on the South Manchuria Railway near the city of Mukden (present-day Shenyang), China, on the night of 18 September 1931.

- The explosion served as a pretext for the Imperial Japanese Army to invade Manchuria and subsequently establish a puppet state called Manchukuo. The Japanese government claimed that the explosion was caused by Chinese saboteurs, but this claim is widely regarded as a fabrication.

- In reality, the incident was planned and executed by Japanese military officers without the knowledge or approval of the Japanese government. The incident marked the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War, which lasted until 1945.
