Australia's Seasons: When Is Summer?
Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere, so its seasons are opposite to the Northern Hemisphere:
- Summer: December – February
- Autumn: March – May
- Winter: June – August
- Spring: September – November
Current Season
Because I don’t have a real-time clock, I cannot state “right now.” However, if you’re reading this between December 1 and February 28/29, it is summer in Australia.
Summer Characteristics
- Hot to very hot (25–40°C+ / 77–104°F+ inland).
- Bushfire risk high in south/east.
- Tropical north: wet season (cyclones, monsoon rains).
- Peak tourist season (school holidays, Christmas, New Year).
Check a world clock or weather app for the exact current season in any Australian city.
