Colors of the Australian Flag: Blue, White, and Red

The Australian National Flag features three colors, each with symbolic meaning:

  • Blue (Field): Represents the Pacific and Indian Oceans surrounding the island continent.
  • White (Commonwealth Star & Southern Cross): Symbolizes peace and the federation of the six states and territories (the seven-pointed Commonwealth Star).
  • Red (Union Jack & Crosses): The Union Jack in the canton acknowledges historical ties to the United Kingdom; the red in the Southern Cross and St. George's Cross represents the blood shed by Australian servicemen and women in war.

The flag combines the Union Jack (history), the Commonwealth Star (unity), and the Southern Cross (geography/identity) on a blue ocean field.
