Who did Columbia gain independence from and who it get from?
Colombia gained its independence from Spain in 1819 after a six-year war with the Spanish Empire. The campaign led to the liberation of the territory of the former Viceroyalty of New Granada and the establishment of the Republic of Colombia, which included the present-day countries of Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela. The independence was achieved with the help of Simon Bolivar, known as "The Liberator".
