Where Is Mount Mitchell?

Mount Mitchell (6,684 ft / 2,037 m) is the highest peak east of the Mississippi River. It is located in the Black Mountains of Yancey County, North Carolina, within Mount Mitchell State Park and Pisgah National Forest. The summit is accessible via NC Highway 128 (off Blue Ridge Parkway, milepost 355).

It is part of the Appalachian Mountains; the Black Mountains contain 6 of the 10 highest peaks in the eastern US.
