Languages Spoken in Newfoundland and Labrador

English is the official and dominant language. A significant French-speaking minority exists, especially on the Port au Port Peninsula (Western Newfoundland). Smaller communities speak Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin, and other languages due to recent immigration.
