Panama is a sovereign country in Central America—it does not have "states" or a "state capitol."
Its national capital is Panama City (Ciudad de Panamá), located at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal. Metro population: ~1.9 million (2023).
Administratively, Panama is divided into 10 provinces and 5 indigenous comarcas. Each province has a capital city (e.g., David for Chiriquí, Santiago for Veraguas, Penonomé for Coclé), but these are provincial capitals, not state capitols.
The Palacio de las Garzas (Presidential Palace) and the National Assembly are in Panama City's historic Casco Antiguo district.
