Trinidad Mountain Range (Colorado) — Peaks & Recreation

The Trinidad Mountain Range is a small, rugged subrange of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in south-central Colorado, spanning the San Juan and Rio Grande National Forests.

• Highest Peak: Mount Blanca — 14,350 ft (4,374 m). Colorado's 4th highest fourteener.
• Other Summits: Little Bear Peak (14,043 ft), Ellingwood Point (14,042 ft), Hamilton Peak (13,658 ft).
• Geology: Fault-block uplift; granite, gneiss, metamorphic core.

Recreation

• Technical climbs (Ellingwood Ledges — classic 5.6 trad).
• Hiking: Lake Como Road (4WD) to Blanca trailhead; 8–10 hr round trip.
• Wildlife: Elk, mule deer, black bear, mountain lion, ptarmigan.
• Alpine lakes, wildflower meadows (July).

Remote, stunning, less crowded than Front Range fourteeners. Check San Juan NF conditions.
