Why are there no Tainos in Jamaica today?

The Taínos were the indigenous people of Jamaica before the arrival of the Spanish in the late 15th century. However, today the Taínos are considered extinct as many died from warfare, slave labour, epidemics or were assimilated into other population groups after their first contacts with the Europeans and African slaves brought to the Caribbean region.
