Is the word Moor derived from Morocco?

The word "Moor" is not derived from Morocco. The term "Moor" comes from the Latin word "Mauri", which was used by the Romans to refer to the inhabitants of the ancient Roman province of Mauretania. Mauretania was located in North Africa and included parts of present-day Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. The Moors were the indigenous Berber inhabitants of this region.
