Why Kuwait change from kout to Kuwait?

The name Kuwait is believed to have originated from the Arabic word "Kut", meaning "fortress" or "walled settlement", referring to the fortified settlement that was established in the area in the 17th century. The "Al" prefix, meaning "the", was later added to the name, resulting in the present form, Kuwait.
