How many rainforests are there in the world?

There are two main classifications for rainforests:

TROPICAL RAINFORESTS:

- Amazon Rainforest (Spanning South America)

- Congo Rainforest (Central Africa)

- Borneo Rainforest (Southeast Asia)

- Sumatran Rainforest (Indonesia)

- New Guinea Rainforest (Papua New Guinea and Indonesia)

- Costa Rican Rainforest (Costa Rica and Panama)

- Madagascar Rainforest (Madagascar)

TEMPERATE RAINFORESTS:

- Pacific Temperate Rainforests (Stretching from Alaska to Central California, and down the coast of South America to Chile)

- Valdivian Forests (Central and Southern Chile)

- New Zealand Rainforests (New Zealand)

- Tasmanian Rainforests (Australia)

So, there are 7 major tropical rainforests and 4 regions with temperate rainforests around the world.
