The Madeira River is a major tributary of the Amazon River in South America. It is the largest tributary by volume, and the third largest by length. The Madeira River rises in the Andes Mountains of Bolivia, and flows through the Amazon rainforest in Brazil before joining the Amazon River near the city of Manaus.
