Does anybody live near the dead sea?

The Dead Sea region is sparsely populated but it does have settlements in nearby villages, towns and agricultural hubs on both western (West Bank) and eastern coastlines (Jordan). While a number of these areas are relatively distant from direct exposure to immediate risks that the sea may pose, certain activities including tourism at its shores do happen occasionally. Overall, it is fair to state that human habitation around the Dead Sea is comparatively lower and cautious given various environmental challenges presented by this unique yet geologically challenging body of water.
