Why did the settle in Atlantic?

There was no large scale European settlement of the Atlantic Ocean. However there were various reasons for European colonies in the Americas, including:

Religious freedom: Many Pilgrims sought refuge in the new world due to religious persecution. They wanted to establish their own communities where they could practice their beliefs freely.

Economic opportunities: The Americas offered the potential for economic opportunities that were limited in their home countries.

Exploration: Many explorers were drawn to the new world in search of adventure, fame and wealth.

Political power: Some settlers were motivated by the desire to gain political power and influence in the new world.
