- Location: Northern Iran, stretches from northwest to southeast along the Caspian Sea coast.
- Major Peaks: Mount Damavand (5,671 m), Alam Kuh, Takht-e Soleyman.
2. Zagros Mountains:
- Location: Western and southwestern Iran.
- Major Peaks: Dena (4,409 m), Zard Kuh, Oshtorankuh.
3. Central Iranian Mountains:
- Location: Central Iran, separating the Iranian Plateau from the Lut Desert.
- Major Peaks: Shir Kuh (4,055 m), Bafq Mountains.
4. Khorasan Mountains:
- Location: Northeastern Iran, near the border with Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
- Major Peaks: Hezar Masjed (3,313 m).
5. Makran Mountains:
- Location: Southeastern Iran, along the coastline of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
- Major Peaks: Bashagerd Peak (2,255 m).
6. Kerman Mountains:
- Location: Southeastern and eastern Iran, near the city of Kerman.
- Major Peaks: Kuh-e Hezar (4,465 m).
7. Baluchistan Mountains:
- Location: Southeastern Iran, near the border with Pakistan.
- Major Peaks: Taftan (3,941 m).
Apart from these major mountain ranges, Iran also has several smaller mountain ranges.
