The Aleutian Islands (Alaska, USA) stretch westward ~1,200 miles (1,930 km) from the Alaska Peninsula toward Russia's Commander Islands (Komandorski Islands).

The closest point between the two chains is between Attu Island (USA) and the Commander Islands (Russia), separated by only ~200 miles (320 km) of the Bering Sea. The International Date Line and maritime boundary run between them.
