Slovene is the official language, spoken by ~2.1 million in Slovenia and smaller communities in Italy, Austria, Hungary. It’s a South Slavic language, close to Croatian and Serbian.

Many Slovenes also speak English (most common foreign language), Italian, German, or Croatian.
