When did Norwegians arrive in Scandinavia?
There is no consensus on when the Norwegians first inhabited Scandinavia. However, the earliest archeological evidence of human settlement in Norway dates to as far back as 11,000 BC, and the earliest human settlement in Scandinavia is believed to have been around 12,000 years ago. The Norwegian coastal tribes were probably formed around the 8th century and united by around the 9th century with one of the first Norwegian monarchs being Harald Fairhair.
