Did Holland Michigan come about from the real Holland?

The city of Holland, Michigan, was named after the Dutch province of North Holland. The city was founded in 1847 by a group of Dutch immigrants led by Albertus C. Van Raalte. The immigrants were seeking religious freedom and a place to establish their own community. The city was named Holland in honor of their homeland.
