Is Azerbaijan a part of Europe?

Geographically, Azerbaijan is located at the intersection of Europe and Asia. The northern part of the country is situated in the Greater Caucasus Mountains, which are considered part of Europe, while the southern part of the country is situated in the Lesser Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian Sea, which are considered part of Asia.

Politically, Azerbaijan is considered to be a transcontinental country, meaning it is located on two continents. The country is an active participant in several European organizations, such as the Council of Europe and the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, and has expressed interest in joining the European Union. However, it is not currently an EU member state and is not considered a part of the European Union for political purposes.

In terms of culture, Azerbaijan has strong historical ties with both Europe and Asia. The country's history has been shaped by various influences, including Persian, Turkic, and European cultures.
