Where are the transylvanian mountains located?

The Transylvanian Alps (Romanian: _Munții Carpați_) are located in central Romania. They form the largest and highest mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains, which stretch across central and eastern Europe. The Transylvanian Alps cover an area of approximately 57,000 square kilometers (22,000 square miles) and have peaks that reach over 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) in elevation.

The range is bounded by the Transylvanian Plateau to the southwest, the Great Hungarian Plain to the west, the Maramureș Depression to the north, and the Wallachian Plain to the southeast. The highest peak in the range is Moldoveanu Peak, which is 2,544 meters (8,346 feet) above sea level. The Transylvanian Alps are a popular destination for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
