Guided tours of France let tourists to experience the country from an "insiders" perspective, with experienced guides and local tours. In many cases, a guided tour also takes some of the hassle of planning a trip out of your hands.     • Rick Steves is a travel television host, travel guide author and radio personality, and has operated a company providing escorted tours of France and other European locations since 1976. According to its website, more than 10,000 travelers take tours from his company, Europe Through the Back Door, each year. As of 2010, Rick Steves offers four annual France-only tours: Paris & the Heart of France in 11 Days, Paris & the South of France in 15 Days, Paris in 7 Days and Villages & Vineyards of Eastern France in 14 days.

      Each tour is for 20 to 28 people, and includes a full-time guide provided by the company. The price of the tour also includes ground transportation, accommodations, breakfast and some dinners, admissions and tours of cultural and historic attractions, tips, and services from local experts. Single accommodations are available for solo travelers. Airfare is not included in the tour price.

    French Wine Explorers

    • French Wine Explorers has guided tours through some of the major wine-producing regions in France, including Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Rhone, Provence and the Loire Valley. Additionally, the company offers a wine tour of Paris which include cooking classes, market visits and a wine tasting course. Group tours, private package tours and customizable tours are available, giving you flexible options for your trip.

    • Trafalgar offers a wide variety of guided tours in France, depending on the time of the year. This company's tours are motor coach or bus-based trips, with stops at major tourist destinations and nightly accommodations in hotels.
