Rick Steves is a travel television host, travel guide author and radio personality, and has operated a company providing escorted tours of France and other European locations since 1976. According to its website, more than 10,000 travelers take tours from his company, Europe Through the Back Door, each year. As of 2010, Rick Steves offers four annual France-only tours: Paris & the Heart of France in 11 Days, Paris & the South of France in 15 Days, Paris in 7 Days and Villages & Vineyards of Eastern France in 14 days.
Each tour is for 20 to 28 people, and includes a full-time guide provided by the company. The price of the tour also includes ground transportation, accommodations, breakfast and some dinners, admissions and tours of cultural and historic attractions, tips, and services from local experts. Single accommodations are available for solo travelers. Airfare is not included in the tour price.
