Where Do Turkeys Live?

Wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) are native to North America—forests and woodlands of the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Domesticated turkeys descend from Mexican subspecies and are now farmed globally for meat. They live on poultry farms worldwide, adapted to varied climates under human management.

Wild populations have also been reintroduced in parts of Europe, New Zealand, and Hawaii, but their core range remains North America.
