Customs & Immigration: Entering Dublin, Ireland
Whether you clear customs in Dublin depends on your origin and citizenship:
- From within the EU/EEA/Switzerland: No customs checks (Schengen does not apply to Ireland, but EU free movement does).
- From the UK (Common Travel Area): No routine immigration or customs controls for Irish/UK citizens; others may face checks.
- From outside EU/UK (e.g., USA, Canada): Full immigration and customs screening at Dublin Airport (DUB) or seaport.
Dublin Airport has separate channels: Blue (EU/EEA), Green (Nothing to Declare), Red (Goods to Declare). Declare items over allowances (alcohol, tobacco, cash >€10,000, restricted goods).
Always carry a valid passport; visa requirements vary by nationality.
