Child Support Agency (UK) Has No Jurisdiction in the Republic of Ireland

The UK's Child Support Agency (CSA) (now part of the Child Maintenance Service) has no legal authority in the Republic of Ireland. It operates only in England, Wales, and Scotland.

Cross-Border Arrangements

• Republic of Ireland: Uses its own Maintenance Recovery Service (MRS) under the Department of Social Protection.
• International Enforcement: The UK and Ireland have reciprocal arrangements under the 2007 Hague Convention and bilateral agreements for cross-border maintenance orders.
• EU Regulations (pre-Brexit): Facilitated recognition/enforcement; post-Brexit, similar frameworks persist via Hague.

If a parent lives in Ireland and the other in the UK, apply to the Central Authority in your country (MRS in Ireland, CMS in UK) to initiate cross-border recovery.
