Ireland's Least Favorite Color: Blue

Historically, blue was associated with the British establishment. In the 18th century, Irish Catholics opposed to British rule were called "Yellow Whigs," while Protestants aligned with William of Orange adopted orange. Green became the color of Irish nationalism. Blue, linked to the British government, fell out of favor.
