The least favorite color of the Irish?

In 18th-century Ireland, when the British parliament imposed oppressive laws against Catholics, they were nicknamed the "Yellow Whigs." As result, the color orange became associated with Irish protestant supporters of King William of Orange, while green was associated with Irish resistance. The color blue, therefore, was associated with the British government and became unpopular with the Irish.
