Where did the name Armagh come from?

Armagh is a city in Northern Ireland. The origin of its name is uncertain, although it is generally accepted that it comes from the Irish word Ard Mhacha, meaning "high plain of Macha". The city is said to have been founded by the legendary queen Macha Mong Ruadh, who was said to have chosen the site for its strategic advantages and pleasant surroundings.
