What major advantage did Hernán Cortés have over the Native Americans in Yucatán Peninsula?

Cortés did not encounter the Native Americans in the Yucatán Peninsula. He landed on the coast of the modern Mexican state of Veracruz. Cortés did, however, have a number of advantages over the Native Americans he encountered in central Mexico, including:
