Spanish Speakers in Los Angeles: Nearly Half the Metro Population

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, the Los Angeles metropolitan area (LA, Orange, San Bernardino, Ventura counties) had over 4.8 million Spanish speakers, representing 48.8% of the total population. This is the largest Spanish-speaking population of any U.S. metro area. Spanish is de facto a second language across government, media, commerce, and daily life in the region.
