What did Santa Anna want from Mexico?

Antonio López de Santa Anna wanted to centralize power in Mexico so that he could have more control over the country. He believed that creating a centralized government would make Mexico stronger and more stable. Centralizing power could allow him to make changes more easily, but the country remained weak.
