Why did decide to name your state Texas?

The name Texas comes from the Caddo word "tejas", which means "friend" or "ally". The name was first applied to the region in the 16th century by Spanish explorers, who used it to refer to the Hasinai people, a group of Native American tribes that lived in East Texas. The name "Texas" was later used to refer to the entire region of Texas, including the Spanish province of Texas and the Republic of Texas. When Texas became a state in 1845, it adopted the name "Texas" as its official name.
