Where did the tainos settle?
The Tainos were an indigenous people who inhabited the Caribbean islands at the time of European contact in the late 15th century. Their main settlements were located in the Greater Antilles, which include the islands of Cuba, Hispaniola (now Haiti and the Dominican Republic), Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. The Tainos also had settlements in the Lesser Antilles, including the islands of Guadeloupe, Martinique, Dominica, and St. Lucia. They established villages near the coasts and along rivers, where they engaged in fishing, farming, and trading. Their settlements were characterized by the presence of bohios, which were round, thatched-roof dwellings made of wood and leaves.
