Paraguay is considered a developing country with a medium level of human development. Although poverty rates have significantly decreased in recent years, poverty and income inequality remain pervasive challenges. According to the World Bank, Paraguay's gross domestic product (GDP) per capita at purchasing power parity is around $6,460, while the poverty rate stood at 22.9% in 2020.
