How did Boca Raton get its name?

Boca Raton gets its name from the Spanish translation of "Rat's Mouth". The name was first used in 1895 by postal officials to designate the new post office in the area. It is believed that the name was chosen due to the town's location at the mouth of the Boca Raton Inlet, which was an important passage for trade and shipping at the time.
