New Jersey Institute of Technology: Campus Locations

NJIT's Campus Structure

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) does not operate a single "main campus" in the traditional sense. Instead, the university's primary academic and administrative presence is split between two major locations in northern New Jersey:

  • Newark Campus: The historic and largest site, located in the University Heights district of Newark. It houses most undergraduate programs, research centers, and the main library.
  • Jersey City Campus: A growing location at 101 Hudson Street, offering graduate and professional programs, especially in business, technology, and data science, with strong ties to the financial district.

Additional Facilities

NJIT also operates specialized facilities such as the York Center for Environmental Engineering and Science and the Solar Terrestrial Research Center at Big Bear Solar Observatory in California. The university's online programs further extend its reach globally.

This multi-location model reflects NJIT's role as a polytechnic university deeply integrated into the New York metropolitan area's innovation ecosystem.
