Texas Does Not Hold Caucuses—It Holds Primaries
Texas uses a primary system, not caucuses. For the 2024 cycle:
- Primary Election Day: March 5, 2024 (Super Tuesday).
- Runoff (if needed): May 28, 2024.
- Early Voting: February 20 – March 1, 2024.
- Voter Registration Deadline: February 5, 2024.
How It Works
- Open primary: Registered voters choose one party's ballot at the polling place (no party registration required).
- Delegates awarded proportionally (Democratic) or winner-take-most (Republican, with thresholds).
- No caucus meetings, no precinct conventions for presidential preference—those are for party platform/organization only.
