Beaches Near Cameron, LA

Among the many highlights of a trip to Cameron Parish, Louisiana, in addition to the Cajun culture and tradition that populates the area, is the assortment of nearby beaches. Most of these beaches were essentially wiped out during Hurricane Rita, however, many are on the mend and popular once again among locals and tourists alike.
  1. Hackberry Beach

    • Located in Cameron Parish, Hackberry Beach is a mainstay for those living in or just visiting the area. Sprawling enough so that it doesn't get too congested, even during peak beach season, Hackberry Beach offers campgrounds and nearby hotels for those eyeing an overnight stay, while hiking is available on Pirogue Trail. Summer high temperatures tend to only reach the 80s, and get down to around 65 at night, making this one an ideal outdoor venue.

    Holly Beach

    • The Holly Beach community was nearly destroyed during Hurricane Rita, and is only just now beginning to rebuild. Beach homes are beginning to spring back up, as are local businesses and picnic areas. The beach is still there for enjoyment, but due to Rita wiping out many of the area's amenities, now features little to no foot traffic. However, those looking for a quiet day/night at the beach might want to check out Holly Beach and its quiet, yet rebuilding, community, which is also located in Cameron Parish.

    Peveto Beach

    • Also located in Cameron Parish, Peveto Beach was also hit hard by Hurricane Rita, though not nearly to the extent of Holly Beach. Featuring an assortment of nearby restaurants and hotels, it remains a popular draw among locals and tourists alike, featuring miles of coastline and sandy beaches, as well as picnic areas and seasonal weather.
