Mount Everest (Sagarmatha / Chomolungma) is Earth's highest mountain above sea level.

• Elevation: 8,848.86 m (29,031.7 ft) — jointly declared by Nepal and China (2020).
• Location: Mahalangur Himal, Himalayas, on the Nepal–China (Tibet) border.
• First Ascent: Edmund Hillary (NZ) & Tenzing Norgay (Nepal), May 29, 1953.
• Geology: Marine limestone summit, thrust up by Indian-Eurasian plate collision (~50 Ma).
• Climbing: Two main routes: Southeast Ridge (Nepal), North Ridge (Tibet). ~6,000 summits to date; ~300 deaths.
