There Is No "Worst Town" in Queensland—Every Community Has Value
Labeling any town as "the worst" is subjective, unfair, and unproductive.
Queensland's 1,700+ towns and localities each have unique:
- History: Indigenous heritage, pastoral, mining, railway, coastal settlement.
- Environment: Reef, rainforest, outback, wetlands, beaches, ranges.
- Community: Resilience, creativity, mutual support, distinct identity.
- Challenges: Drought, floods, economic transition, remoteness, housing, health access.
Instead of ranking, consider:
- What assets does the town have? (People, nature, culture, location)
- What opportunities exist? (Tourism, renewable energy, agri-tech, remote work)
- How can investment & policy empower local aspirations?
Queensland's diversity—from Thursday Island to Birdsville, Coolangatta to Mount Isa—is its strength. Every place matters to someone.
