About the Diamonds
The park is home to the world's only diamond-producing volcanic crater, which is believed to have been formed by a volcanic eruption approximately 100 million years ago. Diamonds and other precious minerals were brought to the surface by volcanic activity and can now be found scattered throughout the park's surface.
Diamond Search
Visitors to the park are welcome to search for diamonds in designated areas using hand-held sieves and shovels. No special equipment is needed, and no prior experience is required. It's a fun and rewarding activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Other Activities
In addition to diamond searching, Crater of Diamonds State Park offers a variety of other activities and amenities, including hiking trails, wildlife viewing, fishing, camping, and picnicking.
