Where was the first place for convict colony in 1788?

The first place chosen for the convict colony in 1788 was Botany Bay, located on the eastern coast of what is now New South Wales, Australia. However, upon arrival, Governor Arthur Phillip deemed Botany Bay unsuitable due to its poor soil and lack of fresh water. The settlement was then moved north to Port Jackson, where Sydney Cove was established as the main base for the newly founded colony.
