How did the town of murfreesboro tn get its name?

The settlement originally called "Cannonsburgh" became "Murfreesborough" on December 9, 1811, in honor of Colonel Hardy Murfree, a wealthy Revolutionary War veteran from North Carolina who donated one square mile of land along the Stones River on which to build the courthouse and public square. He is considered the Father of Murfreesboro.
